Terms and conditions - Free usage offer

There are 3 types of charges that may apply when using the MONILINK service:

1. Your Mobile Network charges
2. Mobile Banking charges
3. Text Services charges

1. Your Mobile Network charges

There will be no data charges from your mobile network for registering, using or downloading MONILINK with the exception of Orange and Virgin. For Orange and Virgin customers MONILINK usage and download will be charged at your standard data tariff.

2. Mobile Banking charges

HSBC Mobile Banking Charges:

For the period 1st July 2007 to 31st August 2008 inclusive, all Mobile Banking customers will receive free MONILINKT Mobile Banking. HSBC will advise you separately of charges for using MONILINKT Mobile Banking from 1st September 2008. Mobile phone Top-Ups: There is no service charge for Top-Ups. Mobile phone Top-Ups will be debited directly from your current account and will be shown on your current account statement. Additional overseas network charges may apply when used abroad.

first direct Mobile Banking Charges:

For the period 1st July 2007 to 31st August 2008 inclusive, all Mobile Banking customers will receive free MONILINKT Mobile Banking. first direct will advise you separately of charges for using MONILINKT Mobile Banking from 1st September 2008. Mobile phone Top-Ups: There is no service charge for Top-Ups. Mobile phone Top-Ups will be debited directly from your current account and will be shown on your current account statement. Additional overseas network charges may apply when used abroad.

Alliance & Leicester Mobile Banking Charges:

For the period 1st July 2007 to 31st May 2008 inclusive, all Mobile Banking customers will receive free MONILINKT Mobile Banking. From 1st June 2008 a fixed monthly fee of £1.50 will be charged for use of the Mobile Banking service unless notified otherwise by email or by text message. (Usage of the service includes on-demand balance enquiry, mini statement, mobile phone Top-Ups or when any of the Text Services are activated). The charge will be deducted and will appear on your current account statement or mobile phone bill or deducted from available credit if a pre-pay phone. Please see latest charging information at www.alliance-leicester.co.uk or www.monilink.co.uk. Mobile phone Top-Ups will be debited directly from your current account and will be shown on your current account statement. Additional overseas network charges may apply when the service is used abroad. The service is provided by Monilink Limited. Offer conditions can change at any time.

RBS Mobile Phone Banking Charges:

If you have an RBS Royalties, Royalties Gold, Royalties Premier and Royalties Private accounts then from 1st February 2008 until RBS notify you otherwise you will not be charged directly for your use of MONILINKT Mobile Banking: the cost for doing so will be included within the charges for your account.

If you have any RBS current account other than a RBS Royalties, Royalties Gold and Royalties Premier account then for the period 1st February 2008 to 31st August 2008 inclusive, all such customers will receive MONILINKT Mobile Phone Banking free. From 1st September 2008 until RBS notify you otherwise a fixed monthly fee of £2.50 will be debited from your mobile phone account in respect of your use of MONILINKT Mobile Phone Banking.

Mobile phone Top-Ups: There is no service charge for Top-Ups. Mobile phone Top-Ups will be debited directly from your current account and will be shown on your current account statement.

Addition overseas network charges may apply when used. All charges include VAT.

NatWest Mobile Phone Banking Charges:

If you have a NatWest Advantage Blue, Advantage Gold, Advantage Private accounts then from 1st February 2008 until NatWest notify you otherwise you will not be charged directly for your use of MONILINKT Mobile Phone Banking: the cost for doing so will be included within the charges for your account.

If you have any NatWest current account other than a NatWest Advantage Blue, Advantage Gold, Advantage Private account then for the period 1st February 2008 to 31st August 2008 inclusive, all such customers will receive MONILINKT Mobile Phone Banking free. From 1st September 2008 until NatWest notify you otherwise a fixed monthly fee of £2.50 will be debited from your mobile phone account in respect of your use of MONILINKT Mobile Phone Banking.

Mobile phone Top-Ups: There is no service charge for Top-Ups. Mobile phone Top-Ups will be debited directly from your current account and will be shown on your current account statement.

Ulster Bank Mobile Phone Banking Charges:

All customers will receive MONILINKT Mobile Phone Banking for free for the period 1st February 2008 to 31st August 2008 inclusive. From 1st September 2008 until Ulster Bank notify you otherwise, the service will be subject to a fixed monthly fee of just £2.00.

3. Text Services charges

RBS Text Services Charges:

If you have an RBS Royalties, Royalties Gold, Royalties Premier and Royalties Private accounts then from 1st February 2008 until RBS notify you otherwise you will not be charged directly for your use of MONILINKT Mobile Phone Banking: the cost for doing so will be included within the charges for your account.

If you have any RBS current account other than a RBS Royalties, Royalties Gold and Royalties Premier account then for the period 1st February 2008 to 31st August 2008 inclusive, all such customers will receive MONILINKT Mobile Phone Banking free. From 1st September 2008 until RBS notify you otherwise a fixed monthly fee of £2.00 will be debited from your mobile phone account in respect of your use of MONILINKT Mobile Phone Banking.

All customers will receive MONILINKT Text Services for free for the period 1st February 2008 to 31st August 2008 inclusive. From 1st September 2008 until Ulster Bank notify you otherwise, the service will be subject to a fixed monthly fee of just £2.00.

Terms and conditions - 5 pound register and use offer

Alliance & Leicester customers only:

The offer is only open to new successful registrations for MONILINKT Mobile Banking where a transaction has been undertaken (i.e. balance enquiry, mini-statement or Mobile Phone Top-Up) between 1st February 2008 and 31st May 2008. The offer may be withdrawn at any time. The new registration must be on a new mobile number and new account not already registered for MONILINKT Mobile Banking.

Customers can either register via the MONILINKT website www.alliance-leicester.monilink.co.uk, texting "A-L" to 82428 on their mobile phone or if an existing Internet Banking customer by logging onto Internet Banking and choosing the Mobile Banking option in the left hand menu. Mobile Banking is only available to current account customers (it is not available for Basic Cash Account or Basic Banking Account customers).

Registration for MONILINKT Mobile Banking is subject to MONILINKT's terms and conditions (which include details of the right for consumers to cancel the contract that may be formed with MONILINKT) which are available via all registration methods. If a customer registers more than one account the £5 payment will be made to the first account which is registered for MONILINKT Mobile Banking provided the registration meets the eligibility criteria. Payment will be made within 35 days of the first transaction, provided that this occurs between 1st February 2008 and 31st May 2008 and that MONILINKT Mobile Banking has not been cancelled in the meantime. Where joint account customers apply for the promotion, only one £5 payment per joint account will be paid.

If a customer also registers for MONILINKT Mobile Banking with another bank participating in the offer with MONILINKT, only one £5 payment will be made to the first account registered. Customers already registered for MONILINKT Mobile Banking prior to 1st February 2008 are not eligible for the £5 offer, even if they delete MONILINKT and reload MONILINKT to their mobile phone. The offer is not valid in conjunction with any other offer. Any dispute as to a customer's receipt of, or eligibility for, the £5 will be decided by MONILINKT in its sole and binding discretion. Offer is also available to staff of Alliance & Leicester plc and its subsidiaries.
